Teen Mom

Am I the only person who DOESN'T watch Teen Mom? Those girls are HORRIBLE examples for teenagers, they make it look like you can have a kid and still party and screw around all the time, and get by perfectly fine with no job, which is garbage. MTV tries to make it look like they struggle, they do not struggle they make 200,000 dollars a season for Teen Mom. They party and get in fights and act a fool and make it look like getting pregnant at 16 is cool and fun and can make you famous, when in reality it's hard and it sucks and the minute you have a baby your childhood is over. When you're a kid, you need to BE A KID and not a parent. I know not all teen mothers are bad moms, but it's sad that they have to give up their childhood to raise a child. Those reality show idiots are NOT good parents. When 80% of your Facebook pictures are of you drunk and partying when you're not even old enough to drink, I wouldn't call that great parenting. What are these girls' kids gonna think when they get older and watch Teen Mom and see all the party pictures and bs all over the internet? I'm 24, and being a parent isn't easy. I can't imagine doing it at 16. Teen girls need realistic role models, and a realistic view of what it's like to be a teen mom. They need to see girls who struggle with money, and have to have a job and go to school AND be a mom, not girls who pawn their kids off on their parents and have nice cars and plenty of money to get their hair and nails done.

  1. Hey Lizz. This is Lindsay. I know how you feel. I don't watch that stupid shit either. They are terrible parents, and I can't believe that MTV would even make a show like that in the first place. I got pregnant when I was 17 and had Kayden when I was 18 and I still felt like I lost part of my childhood. I was still partying and everything when I got pregnant, which yes, I was doing illegally but it was fun and when I got pregnant I couldn't do that anymore and it upset me. Now, I still look back and wish I wouldn't have gotten pregnant so early, but I did and I am a mother to a four year old now and proud that I gave up what I did to be the best mother for my child. I really can't imagine getting pregnant and 15 though, that's ridiculous.

  2. I just think it's horribly irresponsible to air a show that makes it look like if you get pregnant in high school you can get famous and make a ton of money. Those girls DO NOT paint a realistic portrait of what it's like to be a teenage mother. They still act like kids, they party all the time and get in fights and get arrested and generally act completely irresponsible and not how parents should act. Even the so-called good mom Maci parties constantly, if you look at her Facebook pics a good 75% of them are of her completely drunk and partying and flipping off the camera. MTV makes her look like a saint but those pictures say differently. Going out once in a while when you have a sitter is perfectly fine, I have a few times no big. But going out ALL THE TIME is not being a good mother.

  3. If they wanna show teen girls what it's like to be a mom at a young age, they should show REAL teen moms, responsible ones UNLIKE those girls. Moms who have to try to juggle motherhood and school and a job who have money problems and really struggle. Those girls make 200,000 dollar a season, have nice cars and never have to worry about getting a job. That isn't realistic.

  4. I do NOT watch Teen Mom. Its getting way too out of hand. I do know that Maci dropped out of her college classes several, several times. I have 2 kids and go to nursing school, and I just can't understand why she won't finish up a couple of classes. They don't show what being a teen mom is truly like. Makes the show invalid :p

    1. VERY true. I wish they would show REAL examples of teen mothers instead of those shitbrained idiots. Those girls are childish and selfish and DO NOT act like good parents.

  5. I watched it a few times, but I just couldn't see the appeal in it. I wound up feeling sorry for the babies, who are being blatantly neglected by their parents and, for the most part, are caught in the middle of toxic relationships between their parents as well. It's definitely not the type of show that sets a good example for other teen moms to follow. It's just selfish children having children and looking to get famous because of it.

    1. I liked the first 16 and Pregnant, because it was actually realistic. But once the girls got famous and the shows were super popular I couldn't do it anymore. I can't watch a bunch of selfish teenagers have babies to be on MTV and never take care of their kids because they'd rather party and get arrested and fight with their parents and obsess over whatever guy they're dating.
